This project was developed for the Olympics 2020 in Osaka, Japan. Undergoing research for Osaka’s climate, hotels, foods, transportation system, and stadiums are ideal for the summer Olympics. The project used some of Japan iconic symbols to get inspired for the emblem. The medal ideas are based off of the Japanese family emblems, using only a flower theme, and the level of rank to distinguish gold, silver, and bronze. The pictograms use elements from calligraphy and Kanji to incorporate movement and Japanese culture. The vertical ticket design for Osaka is a combination of a champion’s banner and Japanese art board. The emblem captured both the competitiveness and beautiful artwork of the city.
